Back in 2009 we began working on our Spring Summer 2011 trends and felt strongly about the return of the colour blue within the home. For our published trend forecast, Lifestyle Trends for the Home, we developed a nostalgic, patriotic mood entitled Collector, which was all about the consumer building personal collections and curating treasured objects in their homes to reflect their personality. There is plenty of evidence in store at the moment to support the fact that this forecast was accurate!

So why is blue so important all of a sudden? It’s calming, relaxing, classic and timeless. It works beautifully with untreated, pale wood, looks summery when teamed with paper-thin linens and cotton embroidery and is a winner for tableware and ceramics. It can look refined and regal (Royal Wedding anyone?) or washed down and natural. We love dark, petrol-like indigo and fresh cornflower mixed with clotted cream neutrals and a dash of patriotic Union Jack red!
We also love the ‘Something Blue’ pop-up shop showcasing the work of Lorna Syson SJ Guest, Emma Britton and Ellen Calvert, open until 1st May 2011, 21 Clerkenwell Green, you can see a sneak-peek below.

I was just looking up some of the next trends because I’m slowly but surely making my house beautiful.
I clocked some of SJGuest’s Cushions in the pictures and thought to my self Yes I must be doing it right. I have some of her Cushions at home. I found them at http://www.forages.co.uk/ they arrived in good time and I’m so happy with them.
Just thought if your after some now you know where to go.
Thank you,
